First Stop, Zhinvali Water Reservoir. Zhinvali was a townlet in Georgia, Dusheti Municipality (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), on river Aragvi. It has one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Georgia. The Zhinvali Hydroelectric Power Plant has two turbines with a nominal capacity of 65 MW each having a total capacity of 130 MW. The building of the dam in 1986 formed The Zhinvali Reservoir.
Second Stop, Ananuri Fortress. Ananuri Fortress is a castle complex on the River, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) from Tbilisi City. Ananuri was a castle and seat of the eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. The fortress remained in use until the beginning of the 19th century. In 2007, the complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program.
Third Stop, Black & White Aragvi (River). Black & White River is an incredible place that attracts many tourists in the east of Georgia, the region Mtskheta-Mtianeti (near Pasanauri village). You can see the confluence of two rivers there – the white Aragvi and the black Aragvi. The most amazing thing that the flows of two rivers do not mix up and look as a black-white stream. A bit lower they meet another river – Pshavskaya Aragvi of a blue-green color.
Fourth Stop, Gudauri Ski Resort (In Winter). Gudauri is a ski resort located on the south-facing plateau of The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia. The resort is situated in the Stepantsminda District, along the Georgian Military Highway near the Javari Pass, at an elevation of 2,200 meters (7,200 ft.) above sea level with skiable area enjoying maximum exposure to the sun.
Fifth Stop, Russia – Georgia Friendship Monument. The Russia – Georgia Friendship Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument is a monument built in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the ongoing friendship between Soviet Georgia and Soviet Russia. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri & the Jvari pass.
Sixth Stop, Stepantsminda. Stepantsminda is a townlet in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia. Stepantsminda was named after a Georgian Orthodox monk named Stephan, who constructed a hermitage at this location on what later became the Georgian Military Road. In 1917-1918 Stepantsminda was taken by Germany, Turkey and The Whites, bar the last who stayed until 1922. The name was officially changed to Kazbegi under Soviet rule in 1925. In 2006, the town reverted to its original name of Stepantsminda. #stepantsminda
Seventh Stop, Gergeti Trinity Church. Gergeti Trinity Church is a popular name for Holy Trinity Church near the village of Gergeti in Georgia. The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri (the left tributary of the river Terek), at an elevation of 2170 meters (7120 feet), under Mount Kazbek. The Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century. During the Soviet era, all religious services were prohibited, but the church remained a popular tourist destination. The church is a popular waypoint for trekkers in the area and can be reached by a step 1 or 1/2 hour to climb up the mountain. Rise to Gergeti Trinity Church in the off-road jeep is also possible.
